Today

This section is updated once at the beginning of every hour. Depending on your class size, it may take several minutes to display the updated information.

Today displays the following information:

  • Minutes: the number of minutes your student has spent on Waterford activities for the day
  • Calculation Date: the number of minutes since the last update
  • Student Score: the student’s score for any objectives completed that day
    • Each objective completed will have a separate score listed on the dashboard
  • Required Score: the minimum score required for a passing grade
    • If the student is at or above the Required Score, the dashboard will display a green circle by this category
    • If the student is below the Required Score, the dashboard will display a red circle by this category
  • Student Status: the student’s current academic standing
    • On Track: the student is projected to reach their level goal by the end of the school year
    • Action Taken: teacher has made an adjustment to the student’s goal in order to get back On Track
    • Needs Action: the student is not projected to reach their goal by the end of the school year, and the teacher needs to make adjustments to the student’s usage or level goal
    • Surpassing Goal: a student with this status is projected to exceed their goal by the end of the goal period
      • If your student’s status displays Surpassing Goal, consider raising their Level Goal to a more challenging level.
  • Objectives Completed: a list of objectives completed by a student that day
    • Because many objectives encompass several activities, your students may not complete an objective every day

Note: If a student has not logged in to their Waterford account that day, their scores will be represented by a dash.

Student Usage

The student usage dashlet shows a student’s total usage and that student’s progress toward his or her usage goal.

Dark purple represents the student’s total in-class usage. Light purple shows the portion of usage that was completed at the student’s home. Light blue shows the total class average usage, allowing you to easily see if the student is behind, ahead or on pace with the class. The red line denotes the district’s usage goal.

Average Objectives Score

The average objectives score dashlet shows how many total objectives a student has attempted for each strand, and if they mastered those objectives or not.

Not all objectives in the curriculum are scored; objectives not scored are counted in blue. Hover over the red and green areas of the graph to see the average score of all objectives mastered (green) and the average score of all objectives not mastered (red). You can also click the numbers below the graph to see the same data.

Student Progress by Strand

The student progress by strand dashlet shows a student’s progress through the levels of each strand in the curriculum.

Purple shows how far the student has progressed overall. Light blue shows how much of that progress was made during the selected date range. Yellow shows how much curriculum the student skipped when they were first assessed and placed in the curriculum. Gray represents curriculum they have not yet encountered.

Student Usage Days

The student usage days dashlet shows the number of days a student’s usage has met the district’s goal.

Days “used to fidelity” are days in which the student used the curriculum for the expected time. Days “not used to fidelity” are days in which the student didn’t use the curriculum at all or used the product for less than the expected time.

To calculate the percentage of usage days at fidelity, we divide the number of days the student met the district’s usage goals by the total number of days they were expected to use the curriculum.

Student Mastery and Difficulty

The student mastery and difficulty dashlet shows student progress toward individual strands of the curriculum.

If a student has mastered 75 percent or more of the objectives he or she has attempted for a strand, they are included in the green count. If a student has mastered 50-75 percent of the objectives attempted for a strand, they are included in the yellow count. If a student has mastered less than 50 percent of the objectives attempted, they are included in the red count. Students counted in gray have not yet encountered scored objectives in that strand.

Click on any colored segment to see the students in that group, their mastery percentage and a link to their individual dashboard page.

Student Progress vs. Gains

The student progress versus gains dashlet shows two pieces of student information. On the y-axis you see student gains, which are calculated by subtracting the student’s starting difficulty level from his or her current difficulty level. The x-axis shows student progress, which is his or her level in the curriculum.

Hover over each dot to see individual students’ names and exact gains scores and level information. Click the dot to see that student’s individual dashboard page.

Student Usage Goals

The student usage goals dashlet shows the total number of students in your class and how many are meeting your district’s engagement goals.

Students using the curriculum at 75 percent or above of the expected usage goal are colored green. Students using the curriculum 50-75 percent are yellow, and students using the curriculum less than 50 percent are red.

To see data from one of these categories, click its colored number. This will filter the results in the student usage dashlet to the left so that you can see only the students at this engagement level. To return to the full list, click the number again or click the Total Students number.
