Release Notes 6.7.2021

Waterford.org released an automatic software update on June 7, 2021. See the list below for update details. If you have any questions or feedback, our Support Team is always happy to help.

Login Change: Organization Code

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

To make the login process more secure, we have assigned a three-digit code to all organizations using Waterford Reading Academy. To log in to a teacher or educator account, users will now need to enter the organization code before their username and password.

Use the look-up feature to find your district’s unique code. Once the code has been entered, your computer will remember it until the next time you clear your browser cookies.

Added: Reset to Placement Tool

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

District administrators can now assign the Placement Exam to all students at one time through the Organizations tab. After confirming the decision to reset all placements, the update will occur overnight and administrators will be notified by email when it is finished.

This tool should be used at the beginning or end of the school year or any other time you want all students to be reset.

At the time, this feature is district-wide only and cannot be undone once it has been selected.

Added: Remove Associations

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

We migrated the Remove Associations tool from Waterford Early Learning to Waterford Reading Academy. This allows district administrators to remove all student class and course information at the end of the school year.

Like the Reset to Placement tool, this feature can be found in the Organizations tab. It is district-wide only and cannot be undone. We recommended resetting to placement first before removing all student associations.

Added: End Sessions for Individual Students

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

Educators can now end Waterford sessions for a student through the Dashboards tab. This new feature will allow educators to have better management over their students’ time and allow them to force close sessions as needed.

Added: Bookmarking Tool

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

We added a new tool in the Courses & Goals tab that allows educators to manually assign a level to students in Waterford Reading Academy. The Bookmarking tool can recover an account that was lost due to data loss or a sequencing error.

New Student Features: End Session and Skip Activity

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

Educators can now end a Waterford session from the student window or skip an activity if it is too difficult for a child to complete.

To make sure a student cannot end a session or skip an activity themselves, these actions can only be completed after answering a math question.

  • Ways to Make Sunshine
  • My Father's Dragon
Grade 5

Additionally, 24 new graphic organizers are available to print or use as fillable PDFs. You can access these by selecting the Collections > Graphic Organizers filter in the Resources and Activities tab.

Fixed Issue: Stale Sessions

Affects: Waterford Reading Academy

We created a student notification that will tell students when their session has ended or timed out and instruct them to close the browser. This will help prevent “stale sessions,” which is when students do not notice that their session has timed out and continue playing while unaware that their work will not be saved.
