Waterford Upstart: Starting a Session from a Tablet

A Getting Started Guide for Families

We are thrilled to welcome you and your child to your Waterford Upstart learning journey this year! This program is designed to lay a strong foundation for your child’s reading, math, and science skills, and we’re here to help you every step of the way. Follow these steps to start a session from the child’s or caregiver’s profile. 

Start a Session through the Child’s Profile

1. Sign in to your account. 

Personal Tablet: Begin your journey by opening a Google Chrome browser on an Android tablet or Google Chrome or Safari browser on an iPad and signing in to your Waterford Upstart account at upstart.waterford.org. 

• Use the same login information you created when you first registered. If you do not remember your login, please call us at our number below. 
• If you're new, click Sign Up. This will open a new page with a short form for you to fill out.
• If you have not downloaded the Waterford Reading Academy app, follow these instructions before starting a session.  

Waterford-issued Tablet: Begin your journey by selecting the Upstart icon in the upper left corner of the screen.

• Sign in to your Waterford Upstart account at upstart.waterford.org. 
• Use the same login information you created when you first registered. If you do not remember your login, please call us at our number below. 
• If you're new, click Sign Up. This will open a new page with a short form for you to fill out.

1. Select your child’s profile.  

1. Click the “Start” button with Rusty and Rosy. Your child’s session will then begin. 

1. Once your child’s session begins, you will see their name and the timer. This lets you know the session has started. 

Starting a Session through the Caregiver’s Profile

1. Sign in to your account.

1. Once your child’s session begins, you will see their name and the timer. This lets you know the session has started.
