Waterford.org System Requirements

This article outlines the system requirements for Waterford.org software. These requirements apply to both mobile and desktop devices with the following considerations: 

Ensure your device meets these guidelines for optimal performance.

  • Currently, Benchmark Assessments are not supported on touchscreen devices and must be used on a desktop or laptop computer with a mouse or trackpad.
  • Waterford mobile applications support tablet hardware only through iOS and Android. Phone, Desktop, and Laptop usage of these applications are not supported.
  • Amazon Fire Tablets are not supported.
  • Low broadband connection speeds may limit the total number of concurrent users.
  • Product performance may suffer when below the requirements.

The following minimum requirements are listed below.

Windows PC Hardware Requirements
  • Operating System: Recommended Windows 11+
  • CPU: 64-bit
  • RAM: 3GB Minimum, 8GB Recommended
  • Internet: Broadband internet connection
  • Browser: Google Chrome— the most recent version is required for optimal experience
  • Peripherals:
    • Sturdy headset or speakers
    • Computer mouse and keyboard (Touch screen functionality works with iPad or Android apps only)
    • Webcam (For additional log in options such as QR codes)

The Waterford Early Learning mobile app and Mentor mobile app are not supported on Windows PC.

  • Operating System: Mac OS X 13 (Ventura) or higher
  • CPU: 64-bit
  • RAM: 3GB Minimum, 8GB Recommended
  • Internet: Broadband internet connection
  • Browser: Google Chrome—the most recent version required for optimal experience 
  • Peripherals:
  • Peripherals:
    • Sturdy headset or speakers
    • Computer mouse and keyboard (Touch screen functionality works with iPad or Android apps only)
    • Webcam (For additional log in options such as QR codes)

The Waterford Early Learning mobile app and Mentor mobile app are not supported on MacOS Desktop devices or iOS smartphones.

  • Operating System: iOS 18.1+
  • CPU: 64-bit
  • RAM: 3GB Minimum, 8GB Recommended
  • Peripherals:
    • Sturdy headset or speakers
    • Computer mouse and keyboard (Touch screen functionality works with iPad or Android apps only)
    • Webcam (For additional log in options such as QR codes)
  • Miscellaneous:
    • Disable Native Gestures
    • Disable Siri
For Waterford Upstart, install the WEL app. The app runs in the background, so you don’t need to open it. Click here for instructions.
Mentor Desktop is not supported on iPad iOS.

    • Camera (For additional log in options such as QR codes)

  • CPU: 64-bit

  • Internet: Broadband internet connection

  • Peripherals:
    • Sturdy headset or speakers
    • Computer mouse and keyboard (Touch screen functionality works with iPad or Android apps only)
    • Webcam (For additional login options such as QR codes)

The Waterford Early Learning mobile app and Mentor mobile app are not supported on MacOS Desktop devices or iOS smartphones. 
Chromebooks support the web experience only.

Device Maintenance Best Practices

Waterford recommends these device management tips to ensure a smooth experience:

  • When launching Waterford activities, clear all other apps and tabs on your device.
  • If the activity appears to be running slowly, clear your device’s cache or memory and refresh the activity.
  • Use the Teacher Tools Menu to troubleshoot and report any issues after refreshing the activity.
  • After finishing your session for the day, make sure to close out of the Waterford app if you are using an iPad or close all tabs if you are using a browser.
  • Make sure your device’s Operating System, browser, and Waterford Early Learning app are updated to the latest version.
  • When using an iPad or Android tablet to access Waterford, please make sure you are accessing via the Waterford Early Learning app and not the browser itself for the best experience.
  • If using a third-party rostering application on an iPad or Android tablet, you may access via that portal first, but you will still need the Waterford Early Learning app installed for it to redirect correctly.

Browser Settings

Waterford.org requires the following settings for the web browser:

  • Cookies must be enabled
  • Pop-ups must be enabled for [*.]waterford.org
URL Allow List

Firewalls, content filters, proxy servers, and virus-scanning software can all significantly degrade performance, even in cases where network bandwidth appears sufficient. Because of this, we strongly require adding the sites below to a URL Allow List:
