Enhanced Features
Improved Letter Sound Instruction for Early Learners
Affects: Young Learners |
All Waterford Programs
The Letter Sound Instruction activity has been redesigned to offer a more authentic and engaging experience for young learners. The original version no longer aligned with current learning standards or Waterford’s mission and values.
In this updated version, students will explore the first twelve letter sounds through two distinct, focused parts:
- Part 1 introduces and helps children practice the sound itself
- Part 2 helps children identify the sound within words
These enhancements are designed to better support foundational literacy skills while making learning more fun and effective from the start.

It’s now easier for teachers to manage group sessions with a new End Session for Class button. This allows educators to end sessions for all students at once, saving time and helping keep class schedules on track.
A confirmation screen helps prevent accidentally ending sessions.

Now it’s even easier to uncover meaningful trends and make data-informed decisions! With the new grade-level filter in school and district reports, you can quickly focus on specific grades to better identify strengths and areas for growth.
Select one or more grade levels to instantly view targeted data, helping you plan smarter interventions and celebrate successes where they’re happening.
Track Mastered Objectives Easily in Class Progress Report
Affects: Educators |
Waterford Early Learning
Teachers can now easily track student achievement with a new column in the Class Progress Report showing the number of mastered objectives.
This enhancement streamlines access to key progress data, eliminating the need to reference multiple reports and supporting more efficient instructional planning.
Phasing Out Freeplay and Play & Practice
Affects: Educators |
Caregivers |
Young Learners |
All Waterford Programs
To provide a smoother, more engaging experience for children, Waterford is phasing out the older Freeplay and Play & Practice features. These legacy activities no longer align with today’s learning goals or technology standards and will be removed from the platform.
Students who complete the program will now see a congratulations screen celebrating their hard work and learning.
