Reading the License Allocations Table in Waterford Reading Academy as a District Administrator

As a district administrator in Waterford Reading Academy, you can quickly view and understand how licenses are distributed across your district from the Organizations tab.

The District Total area provides a snapshot of how licenses are distributed for all schools within the district.

Below is a guide for reading the District Total area:

  • The Purchased by District row represents all the active licenses that have been purchased at a district level.
    • The Total column represents the active licenses (both assigned and unassigned) at the time you are viewing the table.
    • The Assigned column represent how many of these purchased licenses are assigned to students and currently in use.
    • The Unassigned column represents how many of the district purchased licenses are still available for distribution.
The number in this column should be the result of the Total column minus the Assigned column.

  • The Reserved row represents how many of the district-purchased licenses have been reserved for specific schools in the district. When licenses are reserved for a specific school, they are set aside to be used only for the school in which they are reserved to ensure that schools have a specified number of available licenses.
    • The Total column represents how many of the district-purchased licenses have been reserved across the district.
    • The Assigned column represents how many of these Reserved licenses have been assigned to students at the schools in which licenses have been reserved.
    • The Unassigned column represents how many licenses that have been reserved for schools in the district that are still available to be assigned to students at the schools in which licenses have been reserved.
This column should be the result of the Total column minus the Assigned column.

  • The Unreserved row represents how many licenses have been purchased by the district but have not yet been reserved for use at specific schools within the district.
    • The Total column represents the licenses that are still available to be reserved at a school and assigned to students.
This number should be the result of the Total column of the Purchased by District row minus the Total column of the Reserved row.
    • The Assigned column represents how many licenses that have been assigned to students across the district that were not assigned from a Reserved pool of licenses.
    • The Unassigned column represents how many district-purchased licenses that are unreserved and available for use.
The number of licenses shown in this column can be reserved for schools or assigned to students at all schools within the district.

In addition to the district summary, you can also view license distribution for individual schools in your district.

For each school, you will see two separate rows: Reserved from District and Purchased by School.

Below is a guide for reading the Reserved from District row:

  • The Total column represents how many licenses purchased by the district have been reserved for that specific school
  • The Assigned column represents how many licenses have been assigned to students at that school, which includes the licenses that have been assigned from the Unreserved pool of licenses purchased by the district.
The Assigned column can be higher than the Total column in this row at times. This can occasionally happen when a school has used all of the Reserved licenses and additional licenses are then assigned from the Unreserved pool of district-purchased licenses. For more information, visit Understanding License Assignment Methods in Waterford Reading Academy.
  • The Unassigned column in this row represents how many of the Reserved licenses for that school are still available for assignment. This number can be obtained by subtracting the Assigned column from the "Total" column
If the Assigned column is higher than the Total column as noted above, this number will be 0. You should never see a negative number in this column.

The Purchased by School row for a school can be read as shown below:

  • The Total column represents how many licenses have been purchased for that school specifically. When licenses are purchased by a school, they are only available for use at the school for which they are purchased and are therefore not represented in the district summary.
  • The Assigned column represents licenses that are assigned to students from this license source.
  • The Unassigned column represents how many school-purchased licenses that are still available to be assigned from this license source.
This column should be the result of the Total column minus the Assigned column.

Licenses that have been purchased by a school cannot be adjusted by a district administrator. When a school purchases their own licenses, the school owns the license distribution solely.
